After a long wait and some essential negotiations, the NSC welcomes Michael Cheek. Michael, who is recognized as one of the best indoor speed skaters from his era, signed with the NSC on February 25. Michael’s dominance over the indoor circuit throughout the past 5 years has been overshadowed with doubt and question about his true ability due to the strength of his previous teammates Joey Mantia and Chad Horne. Although team skating has never been allowed in indoor speed skating, there are always questions of uncertainty when more than one skater competes in a race from the same sponsored team. With the recent breakup of the powerhouse Luigino team, Michael will get the opportunity to prove that neither Joey nor Chad were responsible for his success.  Michael is quoted as saying “ I look forward to racing such a talented field of athletes and showcasing my ability.”

Cheek will enter the endurance category where he will be racing the 1000m and 1600m races on March 4th.  Join us in person or on the live feed to witness a true battle between indoor stars Cheek, Mantia, Stelly, Anderson, Powers, Archer, and Hafenscher to advance to the Grand Champions race to take on defending Grand Champ Chad Horne, the only man guaranteed a spot in the 800m main event.
