The Initiation Has Begun
November 14, 2009
What happens when you take 12 of the fastest indoor racers on the planet and put them together for NSC 1 Initiation? Chaos. The first race was the 500m and on the first lap the entire pack went down. Chad the unibomber Horne through a crazy pass into second from the back of the pack and had so much speed he couldn’t hold the corner, taking out the entire field consisting of Joey Mantia, Ben Carey, Steven Carter, and Keith Carroll. Chad got the nickname unibomber because he literally single handedly blew up the whole pack. There were limbs and body parts everywhere. Steven (S Dot) Carter was the first to recover from the fall; back up on his feet first he was able to eke out a win over Keith Carroll. Joey, Ben, and Chad were unable to finish the race because of the severity of their falls. Next up was the 1000m. The field consisted of Jeremy Anderson, Jarrod Fischer, Justin Mannon, Fourth Lacey, Terence Allmond, Jake Powers, and the Ragin Cajun Justin Stelly. There was a lot of jockeying for position early on in the race but with 5 laps to go it was clear who put their game hat on. The Ragin Cajun Justin Stelly dominated the field with a win that appeared to have come with ease. Stelly went 3 for 3 for the night winning the 1000m, the 1600m and the 800m Grand Champions race.
Other highlights for the night were Steven S Dot Carter’s amazing triple corner pass in the 300m, earning him the 500 dollar best pass bonus. Carter who finished first in the 500M and third in the 300m accrued enough points to be the first NSC sprint champion. All in all the night was a great success. With over 80% of the audience being non speed skaters we feel mainstream America is waiting for something new, and NSC is here to deliver. |
